I’m Jen Cui, the Soul Whisperer
I’ve been through some tough shit that left me feeling hopeless, disconnected, and like life was completely meaningless. I thought I was too smart to struggle with mental health, but newsflash, your emotional and mental wellbeing have nothing to do with your intelligence. In fact, being smart, perfectionist, high-achieving student I was actually held me back from getting help for so long because I thought I should just be able to figure it out myself.
It took me 8 years of struggling with life-ending thoughts and being hospitalized for 3 days to realize I was really not okay and that I needed help to find a way out. Crawling out of that dark place wasn’t easy, and it definitely wasn't traditional, but it showed me how to rebuild, trust myself, and live a life that’s real and aligned.
Now, I’m a certified life coach, RTT® hypnotherapist, and spiritual guide with a bachelors in Health & Psychology from the University of Southern California. When you stop listening to all the noise that’s telling you you’re not enough and learn how to manage the distractions that are drowning out your intuition, you open up the space to receive your soul’s wisdom and guidance.

Honestly, coaching found me.
It was a calling that came to me after I climbed out of deep depression and suicidal ideation. I found myself in new territory- at peace with myself, feeling loved by others, and being connected with the world around me.
I decided to pick up the call when I was 20 years old, studying abroad in Melbourne, Australia and decided I would start by helping women struggling with body image and disordered eating habits to make peace with their bodies and food.
I certified as a personal trainer, and got started in training and coaching. Later, I certified as a nutrition coach, finished my degree from USC, and found that I wasn’t just helping people with food or exercise, but as a result I was helping them understand and love themselves in a way that positively affected their relationships and careers as well.
That was soul-fulfilling.
So I broadened my specialities, got certified from The Life Coach School, became a full-time coach and get to keep helping people in the best job ever that I created for myself.
You can read more about my story here, but all in all, the reason why I started coaching is the reason why I keep coaching and see myself coaching forever. Because I love it.

Depends on your situation! If you’re actively dealing with a lot of unprocessed trauma, can’t take care of your basic needs (i.e. getting out of bed, eating, showering, getting to work), or have overwhelming thoughts about ending your life, then definitely consult with a therapist to help you get back on your feet.
I have worked with many clients who choose to work with me while they work with a therapist (since the two modalities can be quite different or they have different intentions for the two. I’ve also had clients who have worked with therapists in the past, are in a good state of mind, but just haven’t been able to have the breakthroughs or particular results they were hoping for and wanted to explore coaching instead.
It’s important to note that coaching is NOT a replacement for therapy, nor a clinical profession so if you need psychiatric support, please consult your doctor to refer you to the right mental health practitioner.
If you’re unsure, we can discuss your situation in our spirit play date and I will point you in a direction if coaching isn’t the best fit for you right now.

FYI- I always start out each session with celebrations for the week and end with a review of your key takeaways. Sometimes, you will have challenges (a.k.a. invitations to play) that is specific to your growth area.
